In addition to overall awards for Dog Jog and Stroller Strut, in the Human Race awards to top three male and female overall, first male and female master and grandmaster.  Top three male and female in each of the following age groups:  9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 & over.

While all Covid capacity restrictions and procedures have been lifted, we had word from Metro Parks, that even though they are planning on opening the roads in Cherokee Park to traffic, they cannot guarantee they will be open for the race on Saturday.  We are then proceeding as if they will not be open and if they do get them open by Saturday, it’s a bonus.

Below is a map outlining a few different places to be able to park and walk through to Hogan’s Fountain.  Many in the past have parked up on Bardstown Rd. and run to Hogan’s Fountain for their warmup.  We will be having a pre-race packet pickup and late registration at Fleet Feet, 117 Breckenridge Ln. (St. Mathews Station) on Friday, June 18th from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and race morning at Hogan’s Fountain starting at 8:00 a.m.

parking options dog jog.jpg

Park on Bonnycastle Ave. or Alta Ave. at Cherokee Rd. and enter the trailhead.  We will have signs directing you to Hogan’s Fountain.  You can also park at any of the parking areas marked in purple and run or walk up to Hogan’s Fountain.

Because we will not be able to get into the park with our trucks to set up the course and set up a water station, we will have small bottles of water before the race that you can carry or bring your own hydration packs if you feel you will need water during the race.

We also will not be able to have a lead car so we will have a lead bike but on the out and back portion of the course, since we will not be able to put out cones to divide the road, please stay to the right of the road going out and coming back.  Course map is below.  We will also have fresh paint arrows painted on the road.

This year’s event will be raising funds for Pet Friendly Services of Indiana, an animal welfare organization with the mission to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable cats and dogs through financial assistance, education, and advocacy. They provide free or discounted spay/neuter services to animal rescues, shelters, and income-qualified pet owners.

All donations will address the root cause of shelter overpopulation, and make sure every animal gets to have the loving home they deserve.

Not up for a 5k or 3k, we also have a virtual 1 Mile Dog Jog, Stroller Strut and Human Run.  Can’t make it race day, we’ll also have a virtual option to run the 3k or 5k.

A virtual race is a race that can be run or walked from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on a treadmill or track. You get to run your own race, at your own pace.

Race entry includes a gender specific, moisture wicking tech shirt (perfect for summer running and walking), finisher medal, finisher certificate, free finisher photo and a $5.00 donation to Pet Friendly Services of Indiana.  Packet mailing for an additional fee.  Packet mailing free for virtual entrants.

Go the extra mile and become a fundraiser!
