Frostbite 5k Run/Walk

The decision has been made that the Frostbite 5k will have to become virtual event.  We appreciate the fact that the City of New Albany did consider our proposals to be able to hold the event live, but as with so many events around the country this year, this decision was a difficult one but was made with the health and safety of everyone as a priority.

We asked both Metro Parks and the City of New Albany to keep the Snowman Shuffle on February 12th on the calendar in the event Covid rates go down and the governors change their event limit mandates.

Packets will be mailed to everyone next week with your shirt and bib.  If you paid for packet mailing, we will refund your packet mailing fee.

In the meantime, hang on to that bib because Fleet Feet has offered to give everyone who brings their bib in the store $15 off every purchase over $75.00!

Keep in mind that going virtual doesn’t mean we can’t have some competition.  Typically, our policy has been that we don’t do awards for virtual events but we feel we’ve come up with a great way to still have a competitive event.

We repainted the course marking for the Frostbite 5k on the Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park so that you have the option to race the original course between Friday, January 8th and Sunday, January 10th. Upload your time by midnight, January 10th and, if you want to be eligible for overall, team and age group awards, send a screenshot of your GPS “race” on the course in Cherokee Park to runrivercity@gmail.com and we will have an award ceremony and keep a score for the Polar Bear Grand Prix.

Below is the course map for the Frostbite 5k on the Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park.
