Join us at 8:00 am on Tuesday morning, July 4th for the St. Matthews Independence Day 5K. This race has its origins back to the late 1970's (and the course unchanged) in what was then called the St. Matthews Pavement Pounder. This fun and fast timed race begins and ends at St. Matthews Baptist Church (3515 Grandview Avenue). Walkers are welcome!

Awards, free massages, fruit, coffee, bagels, costume contest judging and door prize drawings will take place in the parking lot following the race.
SUPPORTING
The race supports St. Matthews Area Ministries (St. MAM) and St. Matthews Baptist Church's "Love 40207" program. All money raised will go to programs that support and benefit the St Matthews community.

RACE SHIRTS
FREE moisture wicking tech shirts guaranteed to all pre-registered entrants who registered by June 20th. Pre-registered runners may pick up shirts at early packet pickup. Shirts after June 20th and day-of-race entrants will be given out on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
AWARDS
Awards (Fleet Feet gift certificates) to the overall first, second and third place men and women. And first, second and third place male and female in these age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 and over.

Race day packet pickup runs from 7:00 am - 7:45 am at the church, 3515 Grandview Avenue.
The Fleet Feet Team Challenge is open to any 3 to 5 person teams in three divisions: Male, Female, or Coed. Fastest three on each team are scored, the Coed team must score one woman. You will not only compete for team awards (members of each winning team will receive a Fleet Feet gift certificate); each team member is also eligible for an individual time and awards!
The Fleet Feet Team Challenge applies to all River City Races and Run the 502 events. At the end of the season (the Snowman Shuffle on February 10, 2024) the teams that win the most events (Male, Female and Co-ed) plus the team that completes the most events, each member will receive a personalized ¼ zip pullover with your name and team name!
There is no additional fee to participate in the Fleet Feet Team Challenge but a team and members must be declared by the Wednesday before each event. After then, changes and additions must be made by emailing runrivercity@gmail.com.
