I started running after my youngest son was born to get back "into shape". Since then, I have learned running is so much more than a mechanism to get fit.
I ran my first 5K (before smart watches and timing mats) and was hooked. I wasn't the first one to cross the finish line, but I loved how it made me feel. Then, I joined She Runs This Town, a free running club for women in Louisville, and the rest is history.
Joining SRTT changed my life. I learned about the many races in Louisville, including River City Races, and met so many supportive, wonderful runners. Thanks to the support of people in our local running community, I've tried a little bit of everything, including triathlons, trail races, and ultra-marathons. One of my favorite things to do when I am not racing is volunteering at races -this is a great way to give back to so many that have supported so many of us for years.
If anyone asks me for advice on running/walking, I tell them "anyone who wants to do this sport can!" Surround yourself with people who can support you and make it happen. Oh, and if you want an amazing experience, sign up to run/walk a 5K. It might just change your life.
This free group is for female runners in the Kentuckiana area.
MRTT/SRTT is a safe place to ask questions, get advice, and find running partners.
It is a running club for women to support and motivate you in your running journey! It doesn't matter if you are a walker or a runner.... someone who has never raced before or a marathoner... We just want to surround you with like-minded women who have a passion for staying healthy!
This week we are profiling one of the local chapter leaders Stephanie Boyd. The local chapter celebrated their anniversary over the past weekend. For more information on She Runs This Town, click here. For more information on the Louisville Chapter click here.
